Karachi: Mahira Khan will play the role of ‘Meena Kumari’ in the Pakistani remake of the famous Bollywood film ‘Pakeezah’.
The Pakistani remake of the 1972 blockbuster will be produced by Hamid Hussain under his UAE production house.
Sources from the production house have told The Express Tribune that Mahira Khan is likely to essay the classic role of ‘Meena Kumari’.
Sources have revealed that we are in talks with several popular artists for the remake of ‘Pakeezah’ and Mahira Khan is also in touch with us.
The film ‘Pakeeza’ is considered to be the most expensive film of Indian cinema in the seventies and this film was made at a cost of one crore five million Indian rupees at that time.
A month after the blockbuster film, its actress Meena Kumari died, making it even more popular.
