Mumbai: Indian legend actress Shabana Azmi has said that like in the past, the role of female actresses in films is no longer a decoration piece, but they are seen in the main roles in which the entire story revolves around them.

According to Indian media, prominent actress and poet Javed Akhtar’s wife spoke in detail about her future projects and rapid changes in the film industry in an interview.

Shabana Azmi said that this is a big phase of change in the industry and thankfully, women actresses in films are not just for show, they are not just dancing around the hero.

Shabana Azmi complained that most of the filmmakers are not connected to the society, they don’t know what the audience wants to see. Now heroines don’t just show off by wearing beautiful clothes. They have to give a role. The patriarchy has to be shaken.

Recalling the past, Shabana Azmi said that when I did Aarth, the director said that it is a wonderful film. These were the days of Tabu’s end, though even then Indian wives could not say “no” to their husbands.

The actress added that times have changed now. The female actors are carrying the entire burden of the story. The film is playing the lead role in which the entire story revolves around them because the role of women has become prominent in the society as well.

Legendary actress Shabana Azmi said that she will play a role with Dharmendra in the upcoming film. The film also stars Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh.

Shabana Azmi said, “I don’t want to reveal too much, but director Karan Johar, who is a devoted fan of old Hindi films, has shot the romance between me and Dharmendra’s character in the style of old films.”

It should be noted that the film Rocky Aur Rani directed by Karan Johar will be released in July this year.
