Quetta: Chaman is a border town on the Pak-Afghan border, which is important because of the business that takes place there. For decades, this business called (smuggling) has been used by people on both sides of the border as their daily life and profession.
The Government of Pakistan has implemented a one-document regime at the Chaman border aimed at preventing illegal movement of people, smuggling and delivery of weapons, drugs, and illegal goods. This move will make Chaman a center of border trade instead of a center of smuggling trade.
However, the smuggling mafia and some political leaders are opposing this decision and trying to mislead the public. They are making people believe that one document regime will harm their business.
The reality is that the One Document Regime will only hurt the smuggling mafia and their henchmen. The government has taken several measures for the welfare of the people employed at the Chaman border, including setting up of a passport office, reducing passport fees, setting up taxi stands at the border, setting up markets and providing free rations to poor people. Included.
People of Chaman should not be seduced by smuggler mafia and political groups. They should accept the government’s decision of one document regime wholeheartedly. This decision guarantees a better future for Chaman and its people.
