4 newborns died as a result of fire at District Headquarters and Teaching Hospital in Sahiwal.
According to details, a sudden fire broke out in the children’s ward of DHQ and Teaching Hospital in Sahiwal, due to which four children died due to smoke filling the ward.
The hospital administration immediately carried out a rescue operation, rescued 60 children and shifted them to another ward and called for the fire brigade.
Volunteers of the fire department managed to control the fire after a long struggle of two hours. Initial investigation revealed that the incident occurred due to short circuit.
MSDHQ said that the deceased children were congenitally ill while the guard posted in the ward took timely measures to save the other children and during this a security guard was also injured whose condition is out of danger.
On the other hand, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, taking notice of the incident, asked for a report from the relevant authorities and has directed strict action by determining the persons guilty of negligence.
