The Lahore High Court has extended the opening hours of the markets on the occasion of Eid al-Zhaha, allowing the markets to remain open till 12 midnight.

Justice Shahid Karim heard the petitions of citizen Haroon Farooq and others. The court directed to keep the markets open till 1 am on weekends.

During the hearing, the report on the dead chickens was presented by the Punjab Food Authority.

According to the report, 46 thousand 670 kg of dead chickens were destroyed from Tullyton market while 94 cases were registered against sellers of dead and unhealthy meat, raids are being conducted on daily basis for chewing meat.

The court adjourned the hearing till next Friday.
