Karachi: The Election Commission has issued arrest warrants for the presiding officers of 6 Union Councils of Karachi.
During the hearing of the case of rigging in 6 UCs of Kemari during the municipal elections, Jamaat-e-Islami lawyer Hasan Javed argued in the Election Commission that the presiding officers have been deliberately prevented from appearing.
According to the lawyer, according to the results of the presiding officers, Jamaat-e-Islami was successful. The returning officers themselves have appeared but the presiding officers have been stopped. The returning officer changed the results and declared the government candidates successful.
A 3-member bench headed by Election Commission member Sindh Nisar Durrani heard the rigging case and issued warrants to the presiding officers of all 6 union councils for absenteeism.
Arrest warrants have been issued by the presiding officers of UC 8 Maripur Town, UC 8 Mir Bihar Town, UC 7 Sultanabad Maripur, UC 5 Machar Colony, UC 5 of Shershah and UC 4 of Chinesar Town Ward 1.
