Jogging Can Make People More Energetic, Research

Ohio: From burning calories to releasing endorphins, jogging has a number of positive health effects. But according to a recent study, jogging can make people more irritable and aggressive because of its monotonous and boring nature.

American researchers who analyzed the data of more than 10,000 people said that jogging people should start doing yoga or aerobics if they want to be less angry.

Lead author of the Ohio State University study, Dr. Sophie Zierok, said the findings were surprising. The researchers expected an increase in anger from activities such as boxing rather than jogging.

He said that according to popular opinion, jogging reduces anger and aggression, but this is not the case. Jogging is good for cardiovascular health, but not good for anger management. The study found that jogging was particularly associated with an increase in anger.

A possible reason for this could be the repetitive movements involved, which can lead to boredom and increase anger, he said.

In the study, researchers studied research data from around the world regarding sporting and recreational activities and their relationship with anger.

The analysis, based on 154 studies, included 10,189 men and women. While activities included kickboxing, cycling with punching a bag, swimming and yoga.

These individuals were asked to measure anger, aggression and hostile behavior in questionnaires.
