The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad has issued a notification banning free extraction of water from the ground through bore. Now the citizens have to pay tax for extracting free water from the ground through bore.
According to the notification, separate water charges have been fixed for all categories by classifying the bore connections based on the horsepower of the motor and the diameter of the water supply.
One thousand rupees per month should be paid for residential purposes for half horse power (HP) motor and one inch diameter pipe.
Water charges of Rs.2000 per month will be charged for commercial purposes on half horse power (HP) motor and one inch diameter pipe. Residential charges are fixed at Rs 2500 and commercial charges are fixed at Rs 4 thousand for two horse power motor and two inch pipe.
Residential charges of 10,000 rupees and commercial charges of 15,000 rupees have been imposed on motors of 7.5 to 15 horsepower and three-inch pipes. Residential charges of 20 thousand rupees and commercial charges of 25 thousand rupees have been imposed on motor of 15 horsepower to 25 horsepower and 4 inch pipe.
Residential charges of 20 thousand rupees and commercial charges of 25 thousand rupees have been imposed on motors of 20 horsepower to 30 horsepower and 5 inch pipe. Residential charges of 50 thousand rupees and commercial charges of 75 thousand rupees have been imposed on motors of 40 to 50 horsepower and 6 inch pipe.
Residential charges of 100,000 rupees and commercial charges of 150,000 rupees have been imposed on motor of 70 to 100 horsepower and 8 inch pipe. Residential charges of Rs.2 lakh and commercial charges of Rs.3 lakh have been imposed on 140 to 160 horsepower and 9 inch pipe motor.
