Appeals can be filed from 1st to 3rd January.
Islamabad: The third important phase of the national elections to be held on February 8 has started today. Candidates will file appeals against rejection of nomination papers today.
Appeals can be filed today from January 1 to January 3. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan and former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed will also file an appeal today.
A special cell has been set up to receive appeals of candidates in the High Courts.
Fears of delay in appeals have also arisen due to the non-issue of written certified decisions by the returning officers rejecting the nomination papers, while the High Court tribunals will decide all appeals by January 10.
The returning officers will release the new list of candidates on January 11 and the candidates will be allotted election symbols on January 13. January 13 is scheduled for the scrutiny of papers for seats reserved for women and minorities.
