The incident of the ascension of the Prophet ﷺ is very famous and well-known, it has been written in detail by the scholars of Islam.
The meaning of Irshad Rabbani is: “Glorified is He Who made His servant travel in one night from Masjid al-Haram to Masjid al-Aqsa, around which We have placed blessings, so that We may show Our signs, indeed! Allah is All-Hearing and All-Knowing.
The Almighty said that the Prophet of the universe did not go there himself, rather, the One who took the Holy Prophet from Masjid al-Haram to Masjid al-Aqsa and from there took him on a tour of the heavens, heaven and hell, met the Almighty. All this happened by the power of God and God is the one who sent Adam from heaven to earth. If Allah can send Adam and Eve to the earth from the valley of Paradise, then can they not call their beloved Prophet to the heavens from the earth?
In Bukhari and Muslim, the meaning of the tradition from Hazrat Abu Dharr is that the Holy Prophet was resting in Makkah when the roof of the house opened and Gabriel came with a group of angels and woke him up from his sleep. Mubarak was washed with Zamzam water, after that he brought a golden bowl full of faith and wisdom and put it in it and closed it, and they went with him. .
He (PBUH) rode on Buraq and first prayed two rak’ats in Madinah Tayyaba (Yithrib), then he prayed two rak’ats near the tree of Moses in Wadi Sinai, then he prayed two rak’ats in Madinah, then two rak’ats near the birthplace of Jesus in Bethlehem. He performed the rakat prayer, when he left there, an old woman called to him, Gabriel forbade him to turn towards her, then an old man called ahead, but Gabriel forbade him to turn towards her.
The old woman was the world that was about to expire and the old man was Satan. Then he reached the Al-Aqsa Mosque, where the souls of the Prophets were present, they greeted him, after that the call to prayer was called, Iqamah was called and he led the Imam. Prayed under the Imamate of the Prophet ﷺ. When the prayer was finished, the heavenly angels asked Gabriel Amin (AS) who they are with you. Hazrat Gabriel (AS) said, “This is Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, the Last of the Prophets. The angels asked if they A message was sent to him, Gabriel said, yes.
The angels said that may Allah keep him alive and safe, he is a very good brother and a very good caliph. (Summary of Sirat al-Mustafa, Volume 1) Then Gabriel took him by the hand and took him to the sky. When he reached the sky, Gabriel said to the angel of the sky, “Open.” He said, “Who?” He replied: “Gabriel” He asked, “Is there anyone else with you?” He said, “Yes, Muhammad (PBUH) is with me.” He asked, “Has he been called?” He replied in the affirmative.
When he first visited the sky, he saw a person who had many shadows on his right and left. When he looked to the right, he smiled, and when he looked to the left, he cried. Seeing the Prophet ﷺ, he said, “Merhaba ya Nabi al-Saleh, Marhaba ya Ibn al-Saleh.” The Holy Prophet (PBUH) asked Jibreel (AS) who are they? He said it was Adam. Similarly, meetings with other prophets continued. Every Prophet and Messenger used to greet him by saying Marhaba or Akhi al-Saleh and Sayyiduna Ibrahim (A.S.) also called him “Merhaba or Nabi al-Saleh” along with “Merhaba or Ibn al-Saleh”.
After that, Hazrat Gabriel took him to the place where the sound of the pen of power was heard. On this occasion, Allah made fifty prayers obligatory upon him. When he came to Hazrat Musa (a.s.) with this divine gift, he asked him what duty Allah had imposed on his Ummah.
When he told him, he said that he should attend the Yazidi shrine again and make it less, his Ummah will not be able to afford it. When he (PBUH) appeared in the court of God, one part was reduced, again Musa (A.S.) advised him (PBUH) and he went again. Thus, for the sake of his Ummah, the Lord of the Universe (P.B.U.H.) made many rounds, and finally, Allah Almighty made five prayers obligatory while reducing them. give The reward for these five prayers will still be fifty prayers.
It is mentioned in the hadiths that he ﷺ received three divine gifts, the last verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, in which the completion and interpretation of faith and beliefs are mentioned and the tidings of the end of the period of suffering. Whoever does not commit shirk among the Ummah will be forgiven, and the third donation is the prayers mentioned above.
After that, a visit was made to Sadrat al-Muntahi, there was a layer of divine glory on this tree, which changed the nature of that tree and then a state of beauty was created in it which no language can describe in words. And such colors of manifestation appeared which are beyond language and description.
At the same place, he saw Hazrat Jibreel (AS) in his true form. It is written in Sirat-ul-Nabi (SAW) by Shibli Nu’mani: “Then Shahid Mastoor-e-Azl lifted the veil from his face and the message of Naz and Niaz was delivered in the secret place. Whose gentleness and delicacy cannot bear the burden of words.” (Reference: Sirat al-Nabi s.a.w.) Then he was taken on a tour of heaven and hell, then he returned.
