Great white pelicans are considered a social bird that prefers to live in flocks. During the breeding season, they appear pale pink in colour. They do not tolerate even the slightest interference in their routines and are quick to migrate.
According to Sindh Wildlife, Great White Pelicans usually travel, rest and forage in one place. They hunt their favorite food and some other aquatic insects by surrounding them in shallow water from the deep sea.
They are usually hunted for the oil extracted from their body fat, which is used to treat arthritis and other ailments. Hunting of this bird is a punishable offense by Sindh Wildlife.
