Sindh: Awqaf Department's decision to allocate a separate place for female worshipers in mosques

Karachi: The Sindh government has decided to allocate a separate place for women to pray in all the mosques of the Awqaf department.

According to Express News, in this regard, a meeting was held in the office of Secretary Awqaf under the chairmanship of Minister of Law and Awqaf Muhammad Umar Soomro, in which Secretary Awqaf Manwar Mahesar, Additional Secretary of Awqaf Department and other officers participated.

In the meeting, a briefing was given regarding the registration of mosques, madrasas and allocating a separate place for women to pray. Caretaker Law and Awqaf Minister Mohammad Umar Soomro instructed the Awqaf Secretary in the meeting to allocate a separate place for women to pray in 77 mosques of the Sindh Awqaf Department and to issue a circular regarding this in English, Urdu, Sindhi and Awareness campaign will be conducted in Gujarati languages.

Umar Soomro while giving orders said that the process of data collection of all registered and unregistered mosques of Sindh should be accelerated, the endowment department should register the mosques and madrasas in collaboration with other relevant departments.

Awqaf Minister Umar Soomro said that the Department of Awqaf, Religious Affairs, should start a consultation process with all stakeholders, technical skills programs and IT courses should also be introduced in Madrasas in consultation with the scholars. In the meeting, Secretary Awqaf Manwar Ali Mahesar while giving a briefing said that 8903 madrasas have been registered across Sindh, work is going on to register more mosques and madrasas.
