Islamabad: The Customs Department of FBR seized a shipment of 5,500 smuggled mobile phones worth more than five crore rupees in the federal capital Islamabad during a major anti-smuggling operation.
According to the Customs officials, a shipment of 5,500 smuggled mobile phones has been seized while conducting operations in Islamabad. Golra Morr was blockaded on a tip-off. The value of the seized mobile phones is more than five crore rupees.
Officials said that two persons have been arrested, an FIR has been registered against the accused and the special judge has taken five-day physical remand and further investigation of the accused is underway.
Sources say that there is a large network of smuggling of mobile phones and other items and action will be taken against this network through these suspects for which the scope of investigation has been widened.
