Peshawar: The Caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has directed to activate the search committee for the appointment of vice chancellors in the universities on an emergency basis.
Syed Arshad Hussain Shah chaired a meeting on reforms in the higher education sector in which the caretaker provincial minister of higher education and the provincial minister of information technology, chief secretary, secretary of higher education and other relevant officials participated.
In the meeting, it was decided to activate the search committee for the appointment of vice-chancellors in the universities on an emergency basis, to prepare financial plans to make the universities financially self-reliant.
The Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to complete the membership of the committee within a week and said that special attention should be paid to the candidate’s administrative skills along with the merit and other requirements of the appointment of vice-chancellors, which are fundamental to raise the quality of the education system. Priorities have to be determined from education itself.
