Lahore defense car accident, five-day physical remand of accused Afnan approved

Lahore: The special anti-terrorism court handed over the defense car accident accused Afnan Shafqat to the police on five-day physical remand.

According to Express News, a case was heard in the anti-terrorism court against the death of six people in the defense car accident. The police presented the accused Afnan Shafqat again before the court and requested for physical remand.

The police officer told the court that terrorism provisions have been added in the case against the accused, the police officer requested that the accused be physically remanded for investigation.

The court inquired whether the judicial magistrate had given physical remand earlier. The lawyer of the plaintiff was of the position that the investigating officer did not ask for remand before the judicial magistrate, nothing has been recovered from the accused, the court should give physical remand for investigation.

The lawyer of the accused was of the position that fair trial is the right of every citizen. Held, we accept that the incident was due to the negligence of the accused.

The lawyer said in arguments that the age of the accused is 17 years, the provisions against the accused should be imposed, the trial of the accused can be under the Juvenile Court.

Earlier, the accused Afnan was presented before the Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abhar Gul. The court, while hearing the request of the police, directed to fulfill the legal requirements on the issue of summoning the accused Afnan from jail. The court directed that all legal requirements should be fulfilled on the issue of summons from jail.

The court directed to produce the accused in the judicial magistrate’s court. On the court’s order, the police produced the main accused Afnan Shafqat in the cantt court. Judicial Magistrate Aqeel Ahmed allowed accused Afnan to appear in ATC court.

After adding ATC provisions in the case, the investigating officer applied to the Judicial Magistrate. The accused Afnan was presented in the court with a cloth over his face and handcuffed.

The accused lawyer’s position was that I did not have any quarrel with the victim’s family, it was just a car accident, the court ordered the accused Afnan to appear before the terrorism court on the request of the police.

Today, the accused was produced in the Anti-Terrorism Court, where the judge remanded the accused to five-day physical remand.
