Peshawar: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has filed a petition in the Peshawar High Court to conduct the general elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the supervision of the judiciary.
According to the details, the petition was filed on behalf of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf by the spokesperson Moazzam Butt Advocate, in which it has been stated that under Article 218 (3) it is mandatory to conduct transparent and impartial elections.
It was argued in the petition that the constitutional status of the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the caretaker provincial government has also become controversial, while Tehreek-e-Insaf is not being provided with equal opportunities for politics in the province, even meetings and conventions are not allowed and the party’s central, provincial and local The leadership is under arrest or facing charges.
It has been argued in the petition that the caretaker government has not been neutral but is anti-PTI, there is no possibility of a fair and transparent election in the presence of the current governor, while the Election Commission also delayed the election unconstitutionally.
It has been requested that the court should stop the governor from interfering in the process of holding a fair and transparent election, and conduct fair and transparent elections in the province under judicial officers.
Federal government, provincial government, Governor KP, Election Commission, Khyber Union of Journalists and Peshawar Press Club have been made parties in the petition.
