Specific cardiovascular disease risk calculator

Texas: You may use a calculator to solve math questions, but scientists in the medical field have come up with special calculators to calculate heart health risk.

The American Heart Association has adopted a new approach to assessing the risk of heart disease, for which the organization has introduced a cardiovascular health risk prediction calculator.

This tool called PREVENT works as a risk calculator for cardiovascular diseases. The American Heart Association unveiled this particular calculator in its journal Circulation Trusted Source.

This calculator can estimate the 10- and 30-year risk of heart disease and heart failure for people ages 30 to 79. It is designed to help patients and their doctors identify and prevent heart health risks in a timely manner.

Prevent was developed using data from more than 6 million US adults representing people from a variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Additionally, the Prevent Calculator clearly measures cardiovascular disease risks in women, incorporating new research findings specific to women.
