Ziauddin Board implemented the decision of IBCC for examinations in more than one subject

Karachi: Ziauddin University Examination Board has decided to immediately implement the decision of IBCC to remove the restriction of subjects at matric and inter level.

Chancellor of Ziauddin University Dr. Asim Hussain said in a press briefing that this will be the first examination board in Pakistan to implement this decision.

Dr. Asim Hussain informed about three different decisions of IBCC (Inter Board Chairman Commission) and said that IBCC has approved three suggestions given by us.

According to the ongoing notification of these proposals, students at the matric and inter level will now be able to appear for the examinations of different subjects simultaneously. A student studying business will be able to study computers and a student studying biology will also be able to study mathematics.

Moreover, under the new grading system, from 2024 onwards, grades will be given instead of marks at the ninth and eleventh levels and an unsatisfactory grade will be given by eliminating failure.

He further informed that now MCQs will be taken instead of Cambridge-style practical in science subjects, which has been named as alternative to practical.

Dr. Asim Hussain said that these decisions are being implemented first in Ziauddin Examination Board, but as per the decision of IBCC, these decisions have to be implemented in all educational boards including Sindh as a uniform policy.

Dr. Asim Hussain, referring to history, said that there was no age limit for admission to universities during the British era, but in 1917, through a commission, 11 years were given to matric and two more years to inter, after which in universities Entry will be allowed.

He said that all these powers were with the universities at that time, much later examination boards were formed in Pakistan which could conduct matriculation and inter examinations.

Ziauddin Examination Board Chairman Nida Hussain and Executive Director Dr Nasir Ansar were also present on the occasion of the press briefing.
