Sindh High Court orders action against officers involved in not demolishing illegal constructions

Karachi: The Sindh High Court also ordered the DGSBCA to immediately implement the court orders on the petitions against the illegal constructions in Karachi and submit a progress report by taking action against the officers involved in the illegal constructions.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Nadeem Akhtar heard the petitions against illegal constructions in Karachi. DGSBCA Ishaq Khoro and other officials also appeared in the court. The court remarked that why the court orders were not executed, action was taken against the officers involved in not demolishing the illegal constructions? No action was taken against the officers involved in the illegal constructions after the demonstration.

Justice Nadeem Akhtar remarked that what this means is that the shows etc. are only throwing dust in the eyes of the court. The court remarked that instead of admitting your fault, you are covering up the wrong things. DGSBCA said that sir we had suspended engineer Aamir Khan. The court remarked that what is suspended? He should have been fired. Justice Nadeem Akhtar remarked that there is a suspended sentence? He is taking his full salary and benefits.

The court summoned Deputy Director Shahid Sheikh to the rostrum. The court inquired that you intend to demolish the illegal constructions? Shahid Sheikh said, “Yes sir, give me one month’s time, I will submit the progress report.”

Justice Nadeem Akhtar remarked that you will do any work or just sit in the office and keep doing it, God willing. In a dialogue with the DGSBCA, the court said that if action is not taken against the involved officers according to the law, we will take action against you.

Court issued arrest warrant for former DGSBCA Yasin Sher. The court ordered the DGSBCA to immediately implement the court orders.

The court adjourned the hearing for 4 weeks while ordering action against the officers involved in the illegal construction and submitting the progress report.
