London: A study has shown that activities such as standing or sleeping are much better than lazy behaviors.
A study published in the European Heart Journal studied the effects of different activities during the day on heart health.
According to research, replacing sedentary behavior with a few minutes of moderate exercise daily can improve cardiovascular health. Even simple activities like standing or sleeping are better than lazy behaviors.
Dr Jo Blodgett, a research fellow at University College London (UCL) and lead author of the study, said: “Being active is known to be good for heart health. This research provides a unique perspective on 24 hours and provides new understanding of daily behaviors.
They say you can do the best for your heart by being moderately active, with light work, standing and sleeping being the best, while being lazy is the worst.
Researchers at UCL and the University of Sydney reviewed six studies involving more than 15,000 people from five countries. These individuals wore a device on their thigh that measured their activity throughout the day.
Research has shown beneficial effects of five minutes of moderate activity on heart health.
