Peshawar: Justice (retd) Arshad Hussain took oath as caretaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali administered the oath of office to the provincial caretaker chief minister. Mayor Peshawar Haji Zubair Ali, former caretaker provincial cabinet members, Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, IG Police Akhtar Hayat Gandapur, Commissioner Peshawar and administrative heads of provincial departments participated in the swearing-in ceremony.
Governor Haji Ghulam Ali congratulated Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (R) Syed Arshad Hussain Shah on assuming new responsibilities and expressed his best wishes.
It should be noted that a consultation was held between former Chief Minister Mehmood Khan and opposition leader Akram Khan Durrani in the Chief Minister’s Office for the appointment of the new caretaker Chief Minister of the province, in which various names were considered.

In the meeting between Mehmood Khan and Akram Durrani, the name of Justice (R) Arshad Hussain was agreed upon as caretaker chief minister. As a result of the consensus, the caretaker chief minister’s summary was sent to the governor. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali signed the summary.
Justice (R) Arshad Hussain was the Law Minister in the dissolved cabinet. The new caretaker cabinet will consist of members from the Azam Khan era. In Syed Arshad Hussain Shah’s cabinet, apart from the old ministers, advisers and special assistants will also be the same.
It should be noted that retired Justice Arshad Hussain has been the Chief Justice of Gilgit-Baltistan.
