In a 21-hour surgery, the Langone Health surgical team in New York transplanted a left eye and part of the face from a donor onto Aaron James, a 46-year-old Army veteran who survived a high-voltage accident but lost his face. was badly affected.
“I am very grateful to the donor and his family for giving me a second chance at a difficult time,” James said in a Langone news release. I hope the family finds comfort in knowing that a portion of the donors are with me.
