Increase in smog intensity in Lahore, top among the most polluted cities

Lahore: As the intensity of smog increased further, Lahore became one of the most polluted cities in the world.

According to the air quality index, the total pollution rate in the city was recorded as 452, while the rate was recorded at 552 at Syed Marat Ali Road, 477 at Fida Hussain Road, 464 at the US Consulate, and 425 at Phase 8 DHA.

The intensity of cold has also started increasing in the city and the current temperature has been recorded at 21 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in Lahore will remain dry during the next 24 hours, but there is a possibility of rain on November 9 and 10, which can reduce the smog.

On the other hand, the operations have been accelerated on the instructions of Administrator Metropolitan Corporation Lahore Rafia Haider.

Smog prevention water was sprayed on 651 km area on the main highways of the city, in total 1721 roads and 756 points of the city have been sprayed. An awareness campaign will be started from today to protect citizens from smog.

Special desks are being set up by MCL at key locations in all zones. Assistant commissioners and zonal officers will distribute free masks and awareness literature to citizens.

Administrator Baldia Uzma Rafia Haider requested that the citizens help in identifying smog emitting vehicles and smog-causing factories as smog can be eliminated only by reducing environmental pollution and support Baldia Uzma Lahore in this mission.

Administrator Baldia Uzma has directed the Chief Officer, Metropolitan Officers and Zonal In-charge to directly monitor the operation regarding smog.
