Parrots of non-registered owners will be confiscated
Islamabad: It has been decided to issue identity cards for parrots in Islamabad to prevent the number of parrots from decreasing in the forests.
Special identification numbers will be issued to pet parrots and their owners. The chicks will be bound by a close ring of legs.
Owners who do not register parrots will be fined up to 25,000 and their parrots will be confiscated. Those selling parrot chicks will be fined 5 thousand per chick.
Islamabad Wildlife Management Board will register the parrots and issue identification cards.
Spokesperson Wildlife Board has said to register your parrot with Islamabad Wildlife Management Board, unregistered birds will be confiscated and fined. Those catching wild parrots will also be fined.
Parrot registration is free until 31 December 2023. From January 1 to February 29, the registration fee will be Rs.5000. Registration for adult birds will close on 28 February 2024.
Registered breeders and bird enthusiasts are legally bound to refrain from acquiring wild birds.
