Rawalpindi: On May 9, interim bail was granted to Sheikh Rasheed in the cases of arson and inciting people to revolt.
According to Express News, the hearing of Nomai-related cases against former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed was held in front of Judge Malik Ijaz Asif of the Special Anti-Terrorism Court.
Court granted interim bail restraining Waris Khan police from arresting former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed till next week. The court ordered the former interior minister to deposit a bond worth Rs 50,000.
The anti-terrorism court confirmed the interim bail on the first day, the judge said that Sheikh Rasheed is 71 years old and his old age should be taken care of.
Lawyer Safai said that Shaikh Rasheed was named in the May 9 case on October 5 which is malicious, the Legal DSP and the investigating officer could not give any reason to include the name after five months. On this, the judge said that the bail is confirmed.
