Karachi: Every day more than 500 people are seriously injured in traffic accidents in Karachi, breaking one or more bones.

Orthopedic surgeons and health experts while addressing the various scientific sessions of the 36th International “Pak Orthocon 2023” organized in Karachi, experts said that 80% of the people injured and broken bones as a result of accidents are young people who ride motorcycles while on the roads. But 15 to 20 percent of those injured in accidents become permanently disabled.

According to experts, treating people injured in traffic accidents costs about one and a half to two crore rupees every day, and billions of rupees are spent annually on treating those injured in traffic accidents alone.

The two-day conference was attended by domestic and foreign delegates from different cities of Pakistan, America, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Turkey, Middle East and Far East countries.

During the conference, research papers and studies are being presented on various topics including bone problems, trauma, bone infections, knee and other joint replacements, advanced treatment methods and artificial intelligence, radiological technology.

Addressing the trauma session of the conference, Head of the Orthopedic Department of Civil Hospital Karachi, Professor Badruddin Sohto, said that about 125 people are brought to Civil Hospital Karachi every day as a result of broken bones, most of which are accidents while traveling on the road. suffers from
