Karachi: The University of Karachi has decided to get its computer science department accredited by the relevant Accreditation Council “NCEAC” and work has been started on other related issues including important changes in the curriculum to get the accreditation.
As an initial step, it has also been decided to start teaching with the new syllabus as per the accreditation requirements from the new academic session 2024, which will soon be submitted to the Board of Studies for approval.
Dr. Nadeem Mehmood, Chairman of the Department of Computer Science, told “Express” that under the guidelines of HEC, the computer science and software engineering program is working on an emergency basis for accreditation from the National Computing Education Accreditation Council. has been launched and several new courses are being added to the program in keeping with the contemporary requirements for achieving accreditation including core courses on “Mobile Development, Information Security and Data Sciences”.
As social sciences courses including marketing management and psychology will also be part of the new curriculum, further structural changes are also being made to equip the computer science lab and increase its efficiency. For which the administration has assured to provide additional funds to the department.
A zero visit request will be made to the Accreditation Council through the Quality Enhancement Cell. It should be noted that HEC Islamabad has made the certification of the relevant sector subject to NCEAC in the future and for this the date of August 31 is earlier. It has been given.
