Karachi: The police arrested an active member of the Afghanistan smuggling group by changing IMEI of stolen mobile phones and recovered illegal weapons, cash, mobile phones and motorcycles from his possession.
According to SSP East Irfan Bahadur, the arrested accused revealed that he has contacts with street criminals in different areas of the city from whom he buys stolen mobile phones. used to change, after changing the IMEI of mobile phones, the said phones are first smuggled to Peshawar and then to Afghanistan.
According to the police, a week ago, a partner of the accused was arrested from New Karachi Mobile Market, who used to change the IMEI of mobile phones. MEI switching devices, 2 CPUs and a laptop were recovered.
According to the police, the recovered mobile phones were taken from the limits of Sohrab Goth, Sachal and Site Super Highway Industrial Area. He has been arrested under Section 397/34 in case of charge No. 965/2023. The arrested accused is being further investigated.
