Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan has allotted the election symbol of the former President Pervez Musharraf’s political party, the Stability Pakistan Party.
At the request of the Pakistan Party (IPP), the Election Commission heard the verdict reserved on October 23, according to which the Pakistan Party was given a decision in favor of allotment of eagles.
The IPP had requested the Election Commission to allot the election symbol of the eagle, which was approved by the Election Commission.
It should be noted that the eagle symbol was earlier with the All Pakistan Muslim League, the political party of late General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, and the Election Commission had withdrawn the eagle symbol from the All Pakistan Muslim League on October 13. The Election Commission had also removed the name of All Pakistan Muslim League from the list of political parties.
The Election Commission had declared that the All Pakistan Muslim League will not be able to participate in future elections as a political party. The election symbol of the All-Pakistan Muslim League was withdrawn for not holding intra-party elections.
On the other hand, the All Pakistan Muslim League challenged the decision to cancel the party registration in the Supreme Court, in which the APML has declared the Election Commission’s decision invalid and requested to restore the registration.
In the petition filed by APML, it is also requested to return its election symbol eagle. It has been argued in the petition that interference in the internal affairs of political parties is not the authority of the Election Commission. The Election Commission cannot decide on intra-party election disputes of political parties. The Election Commission has exceeded its constitutional and legal mandate. The Election Commission withdrew the election symbol to honor IPP and Jahangir Tareen.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the Stability Pakistan Party, Firdous Ashiq Awan, has said in his statement that Shaheen is burning with your flight. He said that the Stability Pakistan Party is very happy to inform its people and loved ones that the Election Commission of Pakistan has allotted its recommended election symbol to IPP. Now the time for high-flying Pakistan Party with high morale, high intentions and high-minded stability has started.
