Exam preparation and stress, some useful tips for students

New Delhi: There is a lot of mental stress on the students in the preparation of the exams in the educational institutions and sometimes the results are revealed in front of the parents.

According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), nearly 13,000 undergraduate students attempted suicide in 2021. NCERT’s 2022 survey found that 81 percent of students from classes 9 to 12 suffered from stress over studies and exams.

This alarming issue of student mental health requires attention and action. However, the biggest barrier is limited access to mental health services. According to the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), only 10% of students have access to these important services. Surprisingly, despite 78% of students facing exams facing anxiety and stress, only 12% get professional help.

Similarly, most of the students find themselves in a stressful situation, especially in preparation for exams. Meanwhile, how students can manage their studies calmly, in this regard, the following points are available.

1) Make a systematic study schedule with regular intervals. Effective time management can reduce stress.

2) Make sure you get adequate and balanced sleep. Lack of sleep can lead to many problems, including poor concentration.

3) Make time for meditation too. It can improve your mental health and quality of life.

4 ) Do 10-15 minutes of recreational activities after every 2 hours of studying to relax your mind.

5) Be sure to consume a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals such as leafy greens, eggs, fish and nuts are excellent sources of nutrients that ensure good health.

6) Maintain a social support system by spending time with friends and family.

7) Make your mind admit that failures and mistakes happen in the learning process which should be accepted.
