Auckland: 4 people were killed and many injured in the devastating Cyclone Gabriel in New Zealand.
According to the World News Agency, a state of emergency was imposed across the country due to the worst storm in the history of New Zealand. The army also participated in the relief operations.
Cyclone Gabriel’s intensity has eased slightly but bodies and injured are still being found during rescue operations.
Military helicopters moved the citizens stuck on the roofs of houses to a safe place. Meanwhile, 4 dead bodies were also found from the roofs.
The cyclone wreaked havoc in the country of 5.1 million people. Ten and a half thousand people became homeless while property was also damaged.
The Prime Minister of New Zealand expressed his condolences to the families of those killed in the hurricane, saying that the nation has not seen such a devastating storm in generations. Equally share in the grief of the bereaved.
