By defeating New Zealand, India won their fifth consecutive victory in the World Cup.
In the 21st match of the ICC World Cup played at the Dharamsala Cricket Stadium, India set New Zealand’s target of 274 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.
After defeating New Zealand, India returned to the top position in the points table once again with 10 points while New Zealand moved from first to second place.
The Indian team is unbeaten so far in the tournament while this is the first failure of the Kiwis.
India’s innings:
India’s first wicket fell on 71 in the 12th over when opener Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 46 runs. In the 14th over, Shubman Gill also went on to score 26 runs on a total score of 76. Both were shown the way to the pavilion by Loki Ferguson.
At 15.4 overs in India’s innings, the match was stopped for some time due to bad weather. Before the match was stopped, India had scored 100 runs for the loss of two wickets. Virat Kohli 7 and Shree Yas Iyer 21 were at the crease.
India’s third wicket fell on 128 in 21.3 overs when Sheryas Iyer was dismissed for 33 runs. He was caught by Dion Conway off Trent Boult.
KL Rahul was dismissed for 33 on a total score of 182 and Surya Kumar Yadav scored 2 runs on a total score of 191.
In the forty-eighth over, Virat Kohli was dismissed for 95 runs on a total score of 269.
New Zealand’s innings:
The New Zealand team was bowled out for 273 runs in 50 overs while playing first, 7 batters of the Kiwi team could not even enter double figures. Daryl Mitchell scored 130 and Richan Ravindra scored 75 runs.
Kiwi openers against India failed to give the team a good start. Dion Conway scored zero while Will Young returned to the pavilion with 17 runs.
In the third wicket partnership, a partnership of 159 runs was established between Richan Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell, but Ravindra was dismissed for 75, captain Tom Latham for 5 and Glenn Phillips for 23 runs.
Mark Chapman 6, Mitchell Santner 1, Matt Henry 0, Lockie Ferguson 1 runs proved to be the visitors. Trent Boult remained not out without opening his account.
For India, Mohammad Shami took 5 wickets, Klepp Yadav took 2 wickets while Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah got one wicket each.
Earlier, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to field first. He said that he will try to maintain the winning streak in the event.
The Indian captain said that two changes have been made in the playing XI, Hardik Pandya has been replaced by Ishan Kishan and Surya Kumar has been replaced by Mohammad Shami.
On this occasion, New Zealand captain Tom Latham said that he is hopeful for success in the match, wants to occupy the top position on the points table.
