Karachi: During the raid in the electronic market located in Sadar, 250 stolen and smuggled mobile phones worth more than one crore rupees were recovered, 2 suspects were arrested in the operation.
According to FIA officials, the IMEI numbers of smuggled and stolen mobile phones bought from abroad were changed by a sophisticated software, data of mobile phone numbers already registered in PTA’s system. It has been recovered from the accused, the accused caused a loss of more than 5 crore rupees to PTA through forgery.
The mobile phones being exported include phones stolen from the UK, Anti-Corruption Circle Karachi registered a case against the accused and started investigation.
Apart from this, FIA recovered huge amount of currency in the crackdown against peddlers in the city, arrested 3 accused during the operation.
According to the spokesperson, the FIA State Bank Circle Karachi team raided Wahab Arcade Main MA Jinnah Road, during which local and foreign currency were recovered from the custody of the systematic reference handi. The seized currency includes 32,700 US dollars, 15,000 Saudi riyals, 800 UAE dirhams, while during the operation 9 crore 88 lakh 82 thousand 500 Pakistani rupees were also recovered.
According to the spokesman, 5 mobile phones were also seized from the accused, which contain evidence of reference handi, several registers/ledgers were also seized, which have reference handi entries. During the raid, cases were registered against the accused Muhammad Shahid, Muhammad Hussain, Abdul Rasheed.
