The fourth case of polio has come to light in Pakistan

Karachi: In Pakistan this year, the number of children affected by polio has increased to four.

The health department of Sindh has confirmed poliovirus in a two-year-old child of Afghan origin in Gadap area of ​​Karachi. Earlier, a case of polio was reported in Sindh in July 2020.

According to the details, according to the Sindh Health Department, a 2-year-old child has been disabled by the polio virus in Gadab area of ​​Karachi. The child affected by polio is two years old.

Earlier, a polio case was reported in Sindh in July 2020. This year, the first case of polio in Pakistan was reported on February 20, the second case on July 11 and the third case on October 4.

The first 3 cases were related to buns. Type 1 wild poliovirus has been identified in four sewage samples collected by Pakistan’s National Polio Laboratory at the National Institute of Health Islamabad in August 2023.

According to sources, the affected child in Karachi is of Afghan origin, while medical experts fear that the recent polio cases in Pakistan are similar to those found in Afghanistan.
