Islamabad: It is once again a bad news for electricity consumers in the country that the price of electricity per unit is likely to increase.
The hike request for government-run discos has been filed by the CPPA, which has sought an increase of up to 55 paise in the per unit price of electricity. In the application filed with Nepra, approval has been sought for increase in electricity price in the context of monthly fuel price adjustment.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will hear the CPPA application on November 1, after which if the application is approved, an additional burden of Rs 8.37 billion will be imposed on consumers for one month.
It has been stated in the application that 12 billion 92 crore units of electricity were sold in the month of September. Power generation from hydel stood at 37.55%. According to CPPA, electricity generation from RLNG was 15.95% and furnace oil generation was 1.80% in September.
