Tehran: Iranian police have claimed that they have arrested the killer of renowned Iranian filmmaker Dariush Mehrjovi and his wife.
According to the country’s news agency, the police said that the main suspect of the people who killed the filmmaker has been arrested.
According to the police, the investigation of the suspects involved in the murder of Dariush and his wife is ongoing and efforts are being made to find out the motive behind the murder.
83-year-old Dariush was attacked inside the house and his wife was also present at the time and both could not recover from their injuries.
Dariush Mehrjooi was one of the founders of the new wave in Iranian cinema and his 1969 film ‘The Cow’ is considered a seminal film.
Between 1980 and 1985 the filmmaker lived in France where he worked on a famous documentary ‘Journey to the Land of Rembon’.
