Karachi: The police arrested 6 members of the Burmese gang who engaged in indecent acts with women during the robbery.
Sarjani Town Police arrested 6 operatives of the inter-provincial Burmese gang of robbers while conducting an operation on the Northern Bypass. According to SSP West, the Burmese gang used to perform lewd acts with the women during the incident. Colleagues of the Burmese gang also committed an act at the house of former (retd) General President Pervez Musharraf’s sister in 2002. The mastermind of the Burmese gang was killed in a police encounter in Pakistan Bazar 2 days ago.
Among the bandits arrested by foreigners (Burmese gangs) involved in serious crimes including street crime and robberies in the city are Muhammad Ali, Ismail, Sikandar, Habibur Rahman, Kabir and Younis. An accomplice of the arrested accused managed to escape from the spot.
The mastermind of the Burmese gang, who was killed in a police encounter in Pakistan Bazaar two days ago, was identified as Abdul Hafeez and Abul Hasan. The accused used to enter the houses by showing their connection with the police and agencies. Burmese gang operatives used to perform lewd acts on women during the incident. The accused used to commit most of the incidents in District Korangi, East, Central and West.
Before the incidents, the Burmese gang used to meet in the premises of Sindh Government Qatar Hospital located in District West and plan the incidents. 15 to 20 days after the incident, the accused used to disconnect from each other. Mastermind Abdul Hafeez and Abul Hasan were responsible for the sale of looted jewels.
According to the police, 8 members of the Burmese gang involved in most of the robbery and street crime incidents have been killed so far while 2 have escaped abroad. A few years ago, the suspects of the Burmese gang kidnapped a gold trader from his house. During the incident at the businessman’s house, 3 accused were arrested in an injured condition. In 2002, Burmese gang associates also committed an incident at the house of former (retd) General President Pervez Musharraf’s sister. Further investigation is going on with the arrested Burmese gang operatives.
