Islamabad: The Supreme Court annulled the decision to end electricity load shedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The decision of the Peshawar High Court regarding uninterrupted supply of electricity to consumers who pay their bills regularly has been annulled by the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court remarked that the Peshawar High Court’s order to end load shedding is against the law, so the people affected by load shedding should approach Nepra. In the law, Nepra authority and tribunal forums have been established against discos. However, the High Court cannot issue orders directly.
Lawyer Pesco said that the High Court has ordered to file cases against the officials in case of load shedding, load shedding is the problem of the entire country, the cases against the Pesco officials will be unjustified.
Counsel for the respondent said that the court had asked for details of load shedding in the previous order, the High Court had said that electricity should be provided to the bill payers.
Justice Muneeb Akhtar remarked that there may be many technical points in this matter, how the court will examine, what will be done with the feeders from which recovery is not being done.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan allowed Pesco’s appeal.
