Islamabad / Peshawar: The Power Division has revealed that according to records, during the fiscal year 2022-23, electricity was stolen in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa worth 137 billion.
Secretary Power Division Rashid Langriyal has said that the campaign against electricity theft has started getting good results. Billing improved, collections increased, theft reduced. In September 2023, the recoveries stood at 86.99 percent. In September 2022, the recoveries were 82.43 percent. Electricity theft was 2.93% in September 2022, 1.46% in 2023. In recent operations against electricity theft, 26 billion rupees were recovered.
On the 38th day of the LESCO operation, FIRs were registered against 203 more electricity thieves, 37 accused were also arrested, a raid was conducted in Salamatpura, electricity theft was caught in the plaza. The stolen electricity was supplied to a clinic, salon, cable network office, mobile tower and 3 residences. 22500 units were charged to the accused in aid of detection bill.

On the other hand, the former medical officer of DHQ hospital in Okara Circle, Dr. Muhammad Sagheer, was caught stealing electricity through a tempered meter.
During the last 24 hours, 385 connections were found to be involved in electricity theft in all districts, FIRs were filed against 384 power thieves, while a fine of Rs 39.31 crore was imposed on the detection unit.
According to the spokesman, WASA, TMA, Punjab Irrigation Power Department, Railways, Lahore Ring Road Authority, District Government Lahore, Health District Government Lahore, LDA, Mayo Hospital and Services Hospital LESCO are included in the list of victims. During ISCO operation against electricity thieves, various teams caught another 43 electricity thieves.
In Islamabad Rawalpindi City, Rawalpindi, Cantt, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal Circles, more than 2 thousand electricity thieves have been fined more than 13 crore 7 lakh 41 lakh for more than 28 lakh 22 thousand units, 434 FIRs have been registered and 336 electricity thieves have been registered by police. Arrested.
