Our body relies on certain vitamins and minerals to function regularly.
Among these vitamins, vitamin D is a component found in fish, red meat, and eggs. However, most vitamin D is obtained from sunlight.
Health expert Claire Barnes outlines six signs that may indicate vitamin D deficiency. At the same time, he has also told how this problem can be avoided.
He said that while most people do not show any symptoms of vitamin D deficiency, many people may have many symptoms that indicate its deficiency.
These symptoms include fatigue, low mood, bone and muscle pain, digestive problems, often feeling sick and poor oral health, he said.
Claire Barnes said that more than 50 per cent of older people in the UK are vitamin D deficient, with 16 per cent becoming severely deficient in winter and spring.
Claire also talked about foods to avoid vitamin D deficiency.
He said that fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids are a good source of vitamin D, while liver, butter, egg yolks and mushrooms also contain a good amount of vitamin D.
