Karachi: The caretaker chief minister of Sindh has said that the property tax survey will be started in 2024.

A 12-member high-level delegation led by Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqir and World Bank Country Director Naje bin Hussain discussed the overall support portfolio of the World Bank in a meeting held at the Chief Minister’s House.

Chairman P&D Shakeel Mangenjo informed the World Bank team about the progress and problems of the ongoing projects in the province. There are 13 major projects of 3218.3 million dollars sponsored by the World Bank in Sindh, of which 29% so far i.e. 947.8 million has been released, work is in progress on the Sindh Solar Energy Project (SSEP) under which solar installation has been completed at 33 out of 34 sites.

The Chief Minister assured the World Bank delegation that the work has been delayed but it will be completed by November 30, 2023. Discussing the Competitive and Livable City (CLICK) project, the meeting was told that in the property tax survey in the city. Delayed and will now be launched in March 2024, participants were informed that procurement of satellite imagery data and software development would be completed in March.

In the meeting, the construction project of Jam Sadiq Bridge under Karachi Mobility Project was also discussed and it was informed that the financial proposals are being reviewed.

In the meeting, the plan to strengthen the social security provision system in Sindh was discussed and it was decided to post the secretary of the social development department soon so that the plan can be started.
