Lahore: Disagreements between Pakistan Muslim League-N and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) have come to the fore regarding the timing of general elections in the country.

On the issue of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s proposal to delay the general elections, Muslim League-N has decided not to support Maulana Fazlur Rehman on the proposed delay in the elections.

According to party sources, Muslim League-N has decided to fully support the Election Commission’s proposed schedule of holding the next general elections in January 2024. The central leadership has decided that any delay in the elections will be strongly opposed by the Muslim League-N. The leadership of PML-N has instructed the party to insist on the demand of elections on time.

The League central leadership has also instructed the party to distance itself from Maulana Fazlur Rahman’s demand for delay in elections. It has also been asked to oppose any suggestion on TV talk shows and other platforms regarding the delay of elections.

According to PML-N sources, Nawaz Sharif will oppose the proposal to delay the elections in the Minar Pakistan rally on his return home. PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif is in favor of holding the elections in January or February next year. PML-N will oppose the general elections being moved beyond January or February 2024.
