According to the Seismological Center, the epicenter of the 6.3-magnitude earthquake was in the southeast of Afghanistan. The depth of which was up to 40 km.

Dozens of buildings and houses collapsed in the earthquake and bodies of people buried under the rubble continue to be found amid relief efforts, adding to the death toll. Network connections have also been damaged due to the earthquake and people in the affected areas are not being contacted.

According to the spokesman of the Islamic Emirates government, 1240 injured are being treated in hospitals while 1 thousand 320 houses were completely destroyed.

On the other hand, United Nations officials have said that 4,200 people have been affected by the earthquake in Herat province of Afghanistan, of which more than 2,100 have been displaced.

It should be noted that the tremors of the earthquake were also felt in Iran, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Yesterday, the United Nations released the number of people killed in the earthquake, saying that at least 320 people have died in the severe earthquake that hit northwestern Afghanistan on Saturday.

According to the US Geological Survey, two 6.3-magnitude earthquakes struck about 25 miles northwest of Herat city and were followed by four major aftershocks. A large number of people came out of buildings after the first shock of the earthquake around 11 am local time.
