The State Bank of Pakistan has said in the report on federal government loans that in August 2023, the government took a loan of 2 thousand 218 billion rupees.
According to the State Bank, the loan taken in August compared to July this year is 3.6 percent more, the government borrowed 14 thousand 394 billion rupees in one year.
At the end of August 2023, the total debt of the government is 63 thousand 966 billion rupees, the debt of the government has increased by 29% in one year.
As of August 2023, the local debt of the government is 39 thousand 792 billion rupees, the local debt of the government has increased by 23.8% in one year.
The State Bank added that the external debt of the government at the end of August 2023 is 24 thousand 175 billion rupees, the external debt of the government has increased by 38.8% in one year.
