Karachi: After three lines burst at Dhabiji pumping station a few days ago, the water situation in the city could not improve, citizens were forced to buy water through tankers.
According to details, three water lines burst on Saturday at Dhabiji Pumping Station, the lifeline of water in Karachi, due to a power breakdown, due to which water supply has been badly affected in 80% of the city.
After several hours, the repair work of the lines was completed, but the water supply in the city could not be restored for six days.
Dhabiji pumping station supplies water to the city through 9 lines of 72 inch diameter, out of which three lines were affected, leaving the water supply in the city disrupted.
Ko Rangi, Landhi, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Gulshan Iqbal, Gulistan Johar, North Karachi, PIB Ka Loni, Orangi Town, Baldia Town, Gulshan Hadid, Liaquat Abad, Buffarzone, Bahadurabad, Sadar, Linezaria, Clifton. Water supply is severely affected in many areas including Mehmoodabad, Manzoor Ka Loni.
The water crisis in the city has worsened and citizens have been forced to get water through tankers, while water supply from two government hydrants has also been severely affected as three main lines have been affected.
Water Corporation officials say that water supply has been started after repairing the affected lines, water supply will return to normal in the coming days.
