Ahmedabad: England cricket team captain Jos Buttler was surprised by the Indian journalist’s question and could barely contain his laughter.

The Indian sports reporter asked Jos Buttler during the press conference whether the absence of James Anderson and Stuart Broad, who recently retired from cricket, will affect England’s fast bowling in the tournament.

The English captain was surprised when asked by the Indian journalist that Anderson and Broad have not been part of the England ODI team for the last 8 years so he barely tried to control his laughter.

Jos Buttler replied, “I think Jimmy (James Anderson) is still available for selection but he hasn’t played an ODI since 2015 and it’s been a long time since Stuart Broad played an ODI even though he So now he has also retired”.

It should be noted that James Anderson played his last ODI match in 2015 against Afghanistan while Stuart Broad played his last ODI match on February 14, 2016 against South Africa. Both were not even in the 2019 World Cup squad.

Stuart Broad announced his retirement from all formats of cricket after the Ashes series in July 2023, but his teammate James Anderson has not announced his retirement yet.

This ignorance of the Indian journalist is being made fun of on social media. “My grandma knows more about cricket than this reporter,” wrote one user.
