Karachi: The Sindh High Court ordered the police to register a case and submit a report on the petition against the disappearance of PTI leader Usman Dar after he was detained in Karachi.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Nimatullah Phalphoto heard the petition against the disappearance of PTI leader Usman Dar after he was detained in Karachi.

Barrister Ali Tahir, the lawyer of the petitioner, stated that the court had ordered to register a case of disappearance of Usman Dar on the previous hearing.

The court expressed displeasure and remarked why the case of Usman Dar’s disappearance was not registered. SHO Malir Kent said that the petitioner was not approached for admission to the case. The court directed the SHO to take the statement of the petitioner and register a case if it constitutes a cognizable offence.

The SHO said that the petitioner did not approach the police to register a case of disappearance of Usman Dar. Barrister Ali Tahir stated that Caretaker Interior Minister Haris Nawaz admitted in a TV talk show that Usman Dar is in police custody. Now the police say Usman Dar has not been detained.

The court ordered the police to register a case of Usman Dar’s disappearance today and submit a report on October 18.

Justice Nimatullah Phalphoto remarked that the police have been ordered to register a case. If a case is registered, there will be an investigation, everything will come out. The court also sought a written response from the Sindh Home Secretary on October 18.

It was stated in the petition that Usman Dar was detained on September 9. Usman Dar was taken away by dozens of armed and plainclothes personnel from Malir Cantt area on September 9. Osman Dar’s factory and residence in Sialkot have also been sealed. Usman Dar’s arrest is the malice of the caretaker government. Usman Dar’s detention should be declared illegal.
