Karachi: Another achievement of the health department of the government of Sindh has come to the fore, the vaccine plan to be made for the treatment of snake venom and snake bite in the province is in the official papers despite the passage of 17 years, but practically this project could not be started yet.

According to the details, the establishment of anti-snake venom and anti-rabies laboratory was planned to save the lives of people injured by snake and dog bites in Sindh and to apply immediate antibodies vaccine. A serolaboratory was to be set up in Skarund under the scheme, but the plan is still in the papers since 2006.

The interesting aspect of this project is that the building was constructed to start this project first in Skarund, after which it was transferred to Liaquat University Jamshoro in 2007. transferred the project to Gambit Institute.

For a year, the project was circulating in official papers at the Gambit Institute, due to no progress in the project, the Health Department got rid of the project and handed it over in writing to the Provincial Livestock Department for summary approval. Former Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has given.

In this way, this project has been going through various stages of transfer to different departments in the Health Department for 17 years, but unfortunately, the process of making the vaccine was missed while the laboratory building for this project was built in Skarund, on which many crores of rupees were spent.

Meanwhile, Director of Livestock Department and the new Anti-Snake and Rabies Laboratory, Dr. Nazir Kalhoro said that the project was founded in 2006 with the aim of establishing an Anti-Snake Venom and Anti-Rabies Laboratory in Skarund and producing vaccines for the treatment of snake and dog bites. But this project could not be carried out by anyone and since 2006, this project was transferred to various institutions in papers, however, the health department transferred it to the livestock department after getting the summary approved by the former Sindh chief minister in 2023 and he made me the new head of this project in writing. .

He said that 22 employees were working in this project, who did not get salary for one and a half years. Dr. Nazir Kalhorka said that the project estimate (PC1) has been renewed, which has been estimated at 2 billion rupees, but the current A budget of 819 million has been approved in the financial year, which has not yet been released by the finance department.

He said that the project will be started as soon as the money is received, while heavy machinery and modern equipment are needed for the commercial production of the vaccine.
