Karachi: Pakistan Customs Drug Enforcement Cell has recovered crystal ice worth Rs 30 crore from 3 baskets of dry fruits sent back to Afghanistan from Bahrain in a major operation at Jinnah Terminal.
Collector Customs Jinnah Terminal Shafiq Ahmed said that this parcel containing baskets of dry fruits was sent from Mazar-e-Sharif Afghanistan by a citizen named Rafi to Bahrain in the name of Gulbaz Khan, but in view of the risk of arrest, the concerned person sent this parcel in Bahrain. Not received, due to which the suspicious parcel was sent by a flight to Karachi, Pakistan, a country close to Afghanistan, without opening it according to international laws.
He said that according to the law, the said parcel was to be sent back to Mazar-e-Sharif Afghanistan via Peshawar from Karachi, but the staff of the Customs Drug Enforcement Cell stationed at Jinnah Terminal Karachi found 14 kg 500 grams of high quality crystal ice in the parcel during checking. A case has been registered against the Customs Preventive Officer and further investigation has been started in this regard.
