ISLAMABAD (PNP Report) – The Department of Tourism Gilgit-Baltistan is all set to organize the fifth edition of Sarfaranga Cold Desert Rally in the world’s highest cold desert located at Gilgit Baltistan from 6th to 8th October, with a theme ‘Go Green”. This was announced by Secretary Tourism GB Asifullah Khan in a media briefing held at Serena Hotel, Islamabad. On the occasion, a highly-impressive promotional song related to the Sarfaranga rally was also released, which was very much appreciated by the participants present there.

Asifullah, during the media briefing, further highlighted that Sarfaranga is one of the world’s highest cold deserts, situated at a height of 7,500 feet. According to him, the theme for this year’s event will be ‘Go Green’ as part of ongoing efforts to promote eco-friendly tourism in GB.

Answering a question, Asifullah further stated that Gilgit-Baltistan is undoubtedly the hub of natural beauty and tourist attractions. “Sarfaringa Cold Desert Rally would ensure a comprehensive package of fun, tourism and adventure, ” he said, emphasizing that Sarfaranga Desert Rally would provide a great opportunity for youth to engage in healthy and adventurous activities beneficial for the entire society.

Besides participation of around 100 national-level professional drivers, a large number of adventure lovers, international racing enthusiasts are also eager to participate in the rally. The total length of this year’s Sarfaranga Desert Jeep Rally is 80 km. Various cultural and sports activities including polo matches, competition and cultural shows will also be part of the three-day event, being organized by the Department of Tourism GB in collaboration with Pak Wheels.
